The writing is on the wall! Robert Montgomery’s billboards in Old St

We spotted these bill boards popping up around Old Street and now we’re delighted to have Robert Montgomery’s new exhibition just next door, at the KK Outlet gallery in Hoxton Square.

Baby I’m Yours – Breakbot video

Need to share this sexy animation – the music video for Breakbot, ‘Baby I’m Yours’ (2010). Designed by Irina Dakeva at WIZZ, it must have been a labour of love as it’s composed of over 2000 hand painted watercolor images and 2D animations – rotoscoped and shot in 5D for optimum quality.  Slick and stunning result!

Stylish and beautiful, a black bird on a cardboard tree!

Loving the Design Museum’s Christmas tree! It’s the tallest of its kind in the World – a submission to the Guinness Book of World Records has been made!

It will be in the atrium until 5th Jan so go check it out. The design is made by Giles Miller and is adorned with woodland animals including foxes, birds and squirrels designed by illustrator Daniel Heath.

The Ambivalence of Identity and Future Fantasteek!

I’ve recently discovered Iniva, a sanctuary for the visual arts and just a hop, skip and jump away from us on Rivington Place. The upstairs library is an oasis of calm for a lunch hour!

Iniva’s last exhibition showcased the work of five established and emerging artists exploring the changing nature of identity (a subject of interest to designers) through video, photographs, sculpture and installations. Cultural identity, belonging and affiliation were discussed with a mixture of seriousness, humour and irony! The show featured a Dave Lewis image of colourful vinyls (see Firedog’s recent record cover).
