From start-up to acquisition in just 12 months

Kindo BadgeIt’s great to hear when our old Firedog staff go on to do fantastic things.

Gareth Knight was Firedog’s Digital Manager a couple of years back and left us to go it alone with a start-up technology consultancy in 2005 he started called Technovated. In fact, Gareth even helped us set up the Fireblog as well as other digital related systems and infrastructure when we were based in Soho. (Seems like a long time ago!).

Take Two

StagedIt’s 17:56 and we’re knackered! Physically and literally beaten. Why you might ask? Isn’t that par for the course? The deadlines and briefs, torturing yourself for creative idea after creative idea? Well, yes it is, but today was different. Let me tell you why! Today was like none other. We were involved in a TV show that’s airing on Channel 5 in the autumn. Due to copyright and confidentiality agreements that are in place I’m not allowed to tell you the name of the show or the celebrity who’s in charge. I can only tell you that it follows a similar format to the renowned The Apprentice TV show that’s currently on air (gripping stuff, you have to see it!).

Firedog. As seen on TV.

Firedog on tellyThere we were squirreling away. Doing what Firedog does and we received a call from out of the blue. Some guy called Chris from ‘something or other design agency’. We met up once at a networking function and we’d got on really well. (Mental note – must do more networking…)

£38000 is the average annual cost to pitch if you are a UK design agency

BeeWe’ve just co-authored some ground-breaking research in partnership with British Design Innovation (www.britishdesign.co.uk). We approached them a few months ago with a view to gaining a better understanding of the design agency pitching environment. Why it happens and what current attitudes to it are from both an agency and client’s perspective. It makes for very interesting reading and it’s causing quite a stir in the industry!
