A really nice piece of web kit has just caught my usually very cynical attention. It’s called PicLens and is a very simple to install extension for browser of choice, Firefox.

Firedog has recently been commissioned by a very dynamic web 2.0 outfit who are poised to send tremors through the online landscape within but a few months. A large deal of the initial branding work centred around research of the web 2.0 landscape and branding online.

Last night, Cliff and I attended a lecture by Michael Peters, Chairman and Creative Director of Identica. For those of you who don’t know of Michael Peters, he boasts a career spanning 30 years within the global design and branding arenas and has been responsible for many high profile global branding projects. Michael is one of the Granddaddy’s of the British Design industry.

Not to jump on the band wagon and pan a fellow design company, but Wolf Olins have really got it wrong this time around. (Or at least the third time around for the fine purveyors of the BA tailfin fiasco and the off-brand Abbey dibacle). For a brand logo to work it has to follow a few simple rules, before you move on to the subject of strategy. And when it comes to this execution it really does feel like the £300 000 budget was split £299 999 strategy and £1 design. Read the rest of this entry »
