The 2012 Olympics in review – Inspiring a generation

2012 MercedesSo that’s it – after 7 years in the making the London 2012 Olympic experience has drawn to a close. During the 6 weeks it was in our city, we collectively witnessed British Athletic’s biggest Olympic medal haul since the 1908 – ironically also held in London – and the triumphs of Athletics ‘A’ listers such as Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps.

Now the dust has settled and the lights have been turned off for the last time, was the games of the XXX Olympiad a success from a design and branding perspective? London has long been seen as one of the world’s creative hubs – did it live up to the hype?

BMW artcar visits Shoreditch – We have a look in…

The Firedog studio dropped pens and crayons for just a few minutes recently to visit the BMW art car exhibition hosted in a nearby NCP garage.

The 35 year old collaboration between the ICA and BMW has featured many artists over the years; Warhol, Lichtenstein and Ndebele South African export, Esther Mahlangu. Unfortunately the exhibition is finished now, it ran from late July and finished up on the 4th August (Thanks Firedog for giving us advance warning). If it does happen to visit your neck of the woods, we strongly recommend that you have a look at the exhibit. There are some fine motoring examples mashed up with some bold contemporary art.

We did, however, take a bunch of photographs. Some of which you can see below. Our firm favourite was without a doubt the Jeff Koons piece, where the contours of the M3 GT2 fit beautifully with the colourful strands of highly polished imagery – Inspired by night time city lights and motion. Delectable!

Vibrant brand identity created for international fund management business

Firedog has recently developed a full integrated brand identity for Method Investments & Advisory, a boutique and independent investment firm. Established in 2001, they now have offices in London, Milan, New York and Luxembourg.

The aim of this rebrand project was to raise the profile of Method from a pure trading business to a serious player in the boutique fund investment landscape. Firedog was tasked with building a strategic direction and family of identities and websites which share the same corporate identity, yet have cultural nuances across the regions.

Inspirational creativity for Barnados Innovation

Firedog created a unique concept for a pilot fundraising campaign designed to engage new donors and provide business development opportunities for young people.

The idea is that a one-off donation can be used by a young person to seed their entrepreneurial venture and grow into a much larger amount to be reinvested back into Barnardo’s and thus the young persons peers, who may not be as fortunate as themselves. We were responsible for the subsequent campaign development and communications collateral.
